PAEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS)
Target group:
The Paediatric Advanced Life Support Course is available to any healthcare professional who is registered as a Medical or Dental Practitioner, Intern, Junior Intern, Professional Nurse, Clinical Technologist or Advanced Life Support Paramedic.
Requirements:
- Valid Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider Certificate or Valid Paediatric Advanced
life Support Certificate, (The Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course is a pre-requisite for the AHA Advanced Life Support courses.) - Although not mandatory, prior participation on an ACLS Course is recommended.
Course Content:
The PALS course is a that will equip candidates with the ability to perform a systematic approach to the assessment of a seriously ill or injured child. You will also be able to recognize and manage a child with a
You will be able to perform effective respiratory management skills, including the use of oxygen delivery devices, ventilation and intubation, as well as the appropriate use of electrical therapy, including defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion, and IV access techniques including intra-osseous and fluid bolus administration at the end of the course.
On registration, the candidate will receive American Heart Association PALS Provider Manual. We recommend that you allow 1-2 months of study time to prepare for the course.

2 Day Practical Course
Certification
A multiple choice exam will be written on the first day, with a pass mark of 84%.
On successful completion of the two-day course, candidates will be issued with:
- An American Heart Association ACLS Provider Card, which is valid for 2 years
- 32 Continuing Professional Development points, (including 2 points for medical ethics).
